The Women Over 50 Project

Having photographed girls and women for years, I am very aware of the ways in which women are constantly evaluated and judged. This collection of work comes from my desire to explore what it means to be a woman over 50 in America today.

When I photographed each woman for this project, I asked them to tell me about their experiences after 50, and how they felt about themselves at the age they each were. I then created a conceptual photograph based on my impressions of what they had shared with me, which is paired here with their portrait.
