A Bridge Between Us

The Japanese have a phrase, mono no aware, which is an expression of measured surprise, translating roughly as “poignancy’, ‘deep feeling’, or ‘awareness’. Awareness of the transience of all things heightens appreciation of their beauty, and evokes a gentle sadness of their passing. These photographs are my interpretation of that; quiet scenes where something will catch my eye and my heart at the same time, and act as a bridge between the present and the past.
