Therapeutic Photography

Andrea Birnbaum is a professional photographer and educator who has worked for many years teaching photography and utilizing therapeutic photography and Literacy Through Photography techniques (founded by Wendy Ewald) with teens, under-privileged youth, and troubled girls around the United States. She creates a safe and accepting space for participants, allowing them the freedom to express their feelings through photographs and writing. Their images and words are combined into galleries and books, helping them move towards greater self-acceptance and confidence in their own abilities.

Photovoice Facilitation

Photovoice puts cameras in the hands of people with valuable lived experience so they can explore and share their perspectives on health, family, community, and their futures.

Using photovoice, we can encourage discussion, investigate experiences, highlight social justice issues, collaborate for change, identify needs, and more. (Photovoice Worldwide)

Andrea facilitates workshops as well as collaborates with organizations who would like to utilize Photovoice.
